So a few months ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Kylie C. of Fresh Stitched Patterns. She’s a warm, funny, sweet Aussie momma and wife who loves sewing and creating as much as I do. She’s been sewing and drafting patterns for a while but has decided to branch out into pattern designing for the rest of us.
A few months ago, back when there was still snow on the ground, I had the opportunity to test the E&M Top #6 for Alison, of E&M Patterns.. Back then, it was just a top. And it was woven. We tested and tested, and so many of us fell in love. But Alison, she’s a perfectionist, I think and just never was quite happy with it. So it got back-burnered. Every once in a while, we would ask her about it, fingers crossed that she was ready to try again. Months went by.
Veronica is a really talented designer. I’ve stalked followed her blog for a while now, admiring her skills as a seamstress. As a designer, Veronica does not disappoint. A southerner like myself, Veronica, unlike me (see here and here), learned to sew at the knee of her grandmother and mom. While she earned a degree in Civil Engineering (a woman after my own kiddo’s heart), she retired from airport design/planning to resurrect her mom’s old Bernina (jealous…..) and began sewing for her sweet, adorable Ella. The Sunny Top and Dress pattern is her first pattern to be released for sale. One of many, many more, I hope!

I promise… I swear to you on my Kindle’s imaginary stack of the Divergent series e-books (because, really, who buys paper books anymore? I know… I know.. I love the smell, too… And the way I can annoying flip pages while I read… but seriously. Who has space for all these book? Plus, I think if I continued to flip the page corners the way I do, my husband might have to go to jail for murder. And that would be no fun for either of us.)
Chelsea from Get Your Crap Together Designs recently invited me to test her newest pattern. The Love Me Knot shorts. And I do. I love those knots! These little shorts remind me of vintage shorts from the 50’s. The sweet little knots and ties hanging down sweet chubby baby and toddler thighs. *sigh* So cute. So, so cute.
Because it’s Kids Clothing Week, I am TOTALLY taking advantage of this pattern test and considering it a project! It’s like it just fell in my lap that this week I am SUPER busy with clothes for the little people in my world. 🙂
